Enable channels individually in HubSpot admin. Chat, email, Messenger are native. SMS, Instagram, Telegram, LINE, WhatsApp, Slack require Custom Channels API setup with appropriate provider credentials.
Context Continuity
Customer starts on web chat, continues on WhatsApp. Conversation history persists across channels. Agent sees full thread. Handoffs to humans carry context forward; customer doesn’t repeat themselves.
Channel-Specific Tuning
SMS replies stay short. WhatsApp respects 24-hour messaging windows. Instagram DMs often include images that need handling. Tune agent responses per channel for native feel.
Measurement
Track deflection rate, CSAT, handoff rate per channel. Some channels (WhatsApp) tend higher-complexity; others (SMS) are transactional. Optimize staffing and SLAs per channel.
